Sunday, July 12th. AM.

i’ve taken the lonely train ride down to dc millions of times. but waiting and sitting on the platform i realize that somehow this trips seems extremely scary. after all it is the first train ride down with no boyfriend anticipating my arrival… or these qualms  could quite possibly be a result of knowing that i only have a one way ticket. I’m traveling with a purpose… with a hope that this one way trip stays a one way trip.

We finally depart New Haven. It’s 2:12 am and this train was an hour late. I was in the station, alone, waiting. texting made the time go by a lot quicker… even though some company would have made an hour seem like 10 minutes.

It’s raining, but not too hard. the train is pretty empty. i’m listening to 10 years as i wait for the ticket man to rip and hole-punch my ticket. “ticket. click click. rip. ticket. click click. rip.”

Jim drove me to the train station. Dan and Marissa came along for the ride. We rocked out to some Hed PE and Slipknot. I’m going to miss car rides where we would blast music and go crazy. Dan helped me take my bags and settle into the station. We hugged for what seemed to be an eternity… eternity, in a good way. Held back the water works. Even though he makes me crazy sometimes, there is something about him I’m wildly attracted to. It could be the sing-alongs we have every car ride. It could be the random night drives with no destination. It could be the way he makes me laugh without even trying… the way he smiles when I screw up… the way he calls me punk… the way he talks to me… or the feeling i get whenever he’s around. He knows I can be so much more and he pushes me. He knows everything is always going to work itself out. I could go on forever.

Anyway, they left. I was stuck in a train station with an hour wait with some interesting people. The guy directly to my right was, at first, sleeping across the bench, snoring. snoring real loud. His umbrella must have fallen off his beach-ball belly and startled him awake. He ended up sleeping and snoring some more sitting up-right. His umbrella continued to fall and wake him, but after the 7th or 8th time he finally got up and went on a journey somewhere. After he left, some guy was waddling down the corridor talking about how everyone should get free breakfast. There wasn’t anyone near him, nor was he looking at anyone specific, he was just talking to himself.

The train was scheduled to leave at 12:41. 1:35 rolled around and I walked outside to my platform. Train arrived about 15 minutes later and I got a nice seat to myself. I have a long six and a half hour ride down to DC. Its late and I’m super tired.
